Nikola Canigova

The Job:

I joined the lab in 2018 as a PhD student. On top of my research, I am a part of the ISTA sustainability group and the Green Labs initiative, trying to reduce the environmental impact of experimental science. I also used to be a biology student track representative, helping improve the well-being and quality of graduate school for my fellow students.

The Projects:

In my PhD project I study the differences in migration properties of dendritic cells in interstitial vs. invasive conditions. I look at the changes in typical amoeboid migration characteristics of these cells upon invasion, focusing specifically on their adhesion requirements, contractility and nucleus-centrosome orientation within the cell.

The origin:

I come from Bratislava, Slovakia.

The Study:

During my Bachelor's I studied biology in Comenius University in Bratislava, before focusing on genetics for my Master's at the same university.
